Thessaloniki Airport (SKG) to Halkidiki: Complete 2026 Transfer Guide

Thessaloniki International Airport (SKG, also known as Macedonia Airport) is the main gateway to Halkidiki, the three-pronged peninsula in Northern Greece famous for turquoise beaches, pine forests and 5-star resorts. Whether you are heading to Sani, Ikos, Domes or a small Airbnb in Hanioti, this guide covers exactly how to get there in 2026 — distances, journey times, prices and what to watch out for.

Distances from SKG to popular Halkidiki destinations

Ikos Oceania (Nea Moudania): 75 km, ~60 min. Ikos Olivia (Gerakini): 90 km, ~75 min. Sani Resort: 95 km, ~80 min. Domes Noruz Kassandra (Hanioti): 105 km, ~90 min. Alia Palace (Pefkochori): 110 km, ~95 min. Miraggio Thermal Spa (Paliouri): 125 km, ~110 min. Ouranoupoli (gateway to Mount Athos): 145 km, ~135 min. All times include normal traffic — for August weekends add 15–20 minutes.

Your transfer options

Public bus (KTEL): Cheap (€8–€12) but only runs to a few main villages, with luggage restrictions and 2–4 transfers required. Not recommended with kids or large suitcases. Rental car: ~€40–€80/day plus fuel and tolls — fine if you plan day-trips, overkill if you are staying at one resort. Private taxi/minivan transfer: Door-to-door from arrivals hall to your hotel, fixed price per vehicle, no per-passenger surcharge, free meet & greet, free 60-min waiting time. This is what we do — book online, pay later.

How private transfer pricing works

We use fixed prices per vehicle, not per passenger. A Mercedes E-Class sedan (up to 3 pax / 3 suitcases) starts at €60. A Mercedes V-Class minivan (up to 7 pax / 7 suitcases) starts at €80. The price you see at booking is exactly what you pay — tolls, VAT, meet & greet and child seats are all included. Book 10+ days ahead and an automatic −10% early-booking discount applies. Currently three resorts (Domes Noruz, Alia Palace, Miraggio) carry an extra −5% offer that stacks with the 10%.

Why book a private transfer instead of a taxi at the airport

Airport taxi ranks in Greece use a meter, not a fixed price. For long routes to Halkidiki you typically end up paying 30–60% more than a pre-booked transfer, with no English-speaking guarantee, no child seats, no flight tracking and no meet & greet. We monitor your flight in real time, the driver waits if you're delayed (free for 60 min), holds a sign with your name in arrivals, and you have his phone number in advance.

Tips for first-time visitors

Book at least 24 hours ahead — same-day requests are possible via WhatsApp but availability is not guaranteed in summer. Save the driver's WhatsApp before you fly so you can reach him from the plane. Bring some cash (EUR) for tipping or quick stops. If your flight lands after midnight, no surcharge applies. Returning to SKG, allow at least 2 hours from pickup to flight check-in.
