Best Beaches in Sithonia, Halkidiki — A 2026 Insider Guide

Sithonia, the middle leg of Halkidiki, is for many travellers the most beautiful peninsula in northern Greece. Its winding coastal road links dozens of small coves, lagoons and pine-fringed beaches with unbelievably clear water. Unlike Kassandra, much of Sithonia is undeveloped — you'll need a car to reach the best spots, but the reward is privacy and postcard scenery.

Karidi Beach (Vourvourou)

Probably the most photographed beach in Halkidiki — a shallow bay with chalk-white sand, low pine trees and turquoise water you can wade into for 50 metres. Get there by 10:00 in summer, parking fills up fast. Two small canteens, no proper restaurants on the beach itself.

Kavourotrypes (Orange Beach)

A series of tiny coves with orange-tinted rocks between Sarti and Vourvourou — picture-perfect for snorkelling and cliff-jumping. Park on the road and walk down 5–10 minutes through pines. No sunbeds, bring water and shade.

Kalogria & Lagomandra

On the western (sunset) side of Sithonia near Neos Marmaras, both beaches are organized with sunbeds, beach bars and clear shallow water — great for families who don't want to drive far. Lagomandra has the better tavernas; Kalogria the broader sandy stretch.

How to plan beach-hopping

Sithonia loops in about 110 km of coastal road. A common one-day route from Vourvourou: Karidi → Kavourotrypes → late lunch in Sarti → Kalogria for sunset. From SKG Airport it's 110–160 km depending on where you stay; a private transfer drops you straight at your hotel and you can rent a car locally for day-trips.
